2022 Improvement Agenda
Our staff have collectively reviewed a range of data sets in current weeks, including our School Opinion Survey Data and the more recent Parent Voice Survey to collectively determine our next steps for improvement at Richmond State School. Based on these data sets and feedback tools, our improvement agenda for 2022 will be focussed on Numeracy: Creating Numerate Learners with the implementation of high impact teaching strategies across P-10. We look forward to sharing more information and details with you regarding our improvement agenda in 2022.
Report Cards
Report cards are in the final process of proof reading and editing prior to being sent home. Enclosed with reports cards will be 2022 year level booklists. These booklists have been uploaded onto our school website and are also attached below.
Slime Spectacular
We are counting down to our Slime spectacular and are beyond thrilled with the fundraising that has occurred to support further upgrades to our P-2 Playground. Thank you must go to our dedicated P&C Team who have worked tirelessly to ensure that this event is a success, not only for our students but for our wider community.
Policy Updates
As a school, in consultation with our P&C Team, we have recently reviewed a number of our school documents and policies. This documentation will be updated on our school website prior to the commencement of our 2022 academic year. Some of this information will also be incorporated into our student diaries for 2022. Our website link is provided below for you convenience.
Thankyou
A sincere thankyou to all families and community members who have worked collaboratively with the school throughout 2021 to make the year a tremendous success.
I am looking forward to another positive and successful year in 2022.
Head of Department - Curriculum
Curriculum, Teaching & Learning
Last Monday, our inspiring leaders presented their leadership speeches to the school community during parade. We were in awe of their courageousness and composure during their presentations and at the interviews the week prior. Announcement of Leadership positions will be at Awards Night.
The Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program will continue through to the last week of school. Mr O’Neill is very excited for the upcoming impromptu talks the students will present, showcasing the development of their communication and public speaking skills and consideration of the constructive feedback that has been provided weekly.
Teaching and learning continues into the last two weeks of school. Students will be consolidating and transferring their knowledge and skills through project or inquiry-based learning across the curriculum areas. High School students’ classes will be combined during week 8 and week 9. Every student will have the same number of lessons for each learning area and elective, however they will be working in groups consisting of year 7 to 10 students.
The upcoming holidays are a time for rest, relaxation and family time but learning doesn’t have to stop as your child walks out the school gate! Holidays also provide a great opportunity to continue and extend your child’s curiosity, excitement for learning and problem-solving skills. There are numerous opportunities for learning around the home, in real world situations starting with asking interesting questions, discussing current community and national news and seeking opinions on age appropriate hot topics and emotions. Reading is one of the best forms of learning for all kids and that includes reading to them. You can provide different forms of reading for your child such as assembly instructions, warranties, posters, recipes, catalogues, board game rules and bills! Children are born natural scientists - provide a safe environment for your child to investigate, explore, pull apart, fix or care for objects and animals around your home environment from replacing the bicycle tube, monitoring a caterpillar life cycle, growing a plant or caring for an injured animal. Keep the activities simple and affordable, and enjoy time with your children.
Have a safe, fun filled school holiday break. We look forward to continuing to develop your child’s education in 2022.
Welcome to Richmond State School.
Hello, my name is Hayley Ybema and I am a graduate teacher. I have just completed my Bachelor of Education at Central Queensland University in Bundaberg and am eager to begin my teaching career at Richmond State School. I am very passionate about teaching young children and encouraging them to strive to their full potential. I am a very family orientated person and have three younger siblings who I adore. My husband will be moving to Richmond with me in 2022, and we love going on adventures, whether it be fishing, camping or just exploring. We also have two big dogs and a tiny cat that rules our house. I am so very excited to meet everyone and be part of the Richmond community.
