We have been very impressed with the preparedness of the students and their efforts during interviews. We look forward to their upcoming speeches on Monday 15th November.

Attendance and Assessment
As we approach the end of the year, teachers are asking students to demonstrate their learning. This demonstration may be modelling with manipulatives, verbally answering questions, physical demonstrations or in the form of a project, experiment, report writing, assignment or exam. Teachers collect and use this data to determine what your child knows and may still need to be taught and learn, against the achievement standard for their year level. Every day, students are being taught new concepts and skills. Every day, students are being observed and assessed on their learning so teachers can plan for the next lesson. Every student, every day, is provided with opportunities to achieve. Attendance every day of school is vital for your child to succeed. Every day counts.
Over the next three weeks, Prep to Year 2 teachers will be collecting data from their students to complete the Early Start records. Early Start is a suite of literacy and numeracy materials which schools use to track progress and measure the growth of our Prep to Year 2 students. This data informs our curriculum planning, resourcing decisions and supports teachers to more effectively differentiate teaching for students in the early phase of schooling. All Prep to Year 2 teachers across Queensland, are required to gather and monitor this data to better understand where students are at and ‘where to next’ for their learning. Parents can access more information about Early Start from the Department of Education and Training website at http:// education.qld.gov.au/strategic/advice/earlychildhood/earlystart.html.
Pre-Prep Orientation and Move-Up Day
On Wednesday of Week 7, Richmond State School will be welcoming our 2022 Preps in our school with an orientation day. Also on that day, all students will participate in Move-Up, a whole school transition program during period 3. This session will provide students with an introduction to their 2022 classroom expectations, transition routines, rules and begin to build a relationship with their future teacher. Students will also ‘get to know’ other students who potentially will be in their class.
It is our goal at Richmond State School that all students feel supported and prepared for the learning at the start of each year. The Move-up sessions lessen the anxiety students may feel and allow students to start the 2022 year with confidence. If you would like to discuss your child’s transition needs please contact the office to discuss how we can support the process.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
Hello Parents and Community Members,
This week’s article is focused on how Richmond State School acknowledges those students who are consistently following the school’s rules and expectations. Students are rewarded with Happy Vouchers when they demonstrate expected behaviours in both the classroom and playground. During each parade, selected students are awarded a 'Golden Ticket' for achieving the greatest number of Happy Vouchers from the previous week, one from Prep - Year 4 and one from Year 5 to Year 10. On some occasions we will have more than two winners when we have multiple students with the highest number of Happy Vouchers. You will be able to see this week’s winners in this newsletter under the Achievements and Awards section, congratulations to our winners. The Golden Ticket allows students to attend a special morning tea with the Principal which occurs twice per term. There will be a final Golden Ticket morning tea during Week 9 of this term.
Kind Regards,
